Photography began for me right here. It was in Hawaii when I was about 20 where I met legend waterman and surf photographer Dean Wilmot who took me under his wing and showed me everything there was to capturing images of guys riding big barrels. Back then we were still shooting on transparency film which added an extra layer of difficulty to swimming around in a crowded lineup with a heavy camera warehousing.
Each night Dean an I would go home after putting in 6 or so hours in the water and then process all our film, scan it and email it to all the magazines around the world. Dean was really ahead of his time when it came to working with international clients and making sure everyone saw his images.
